Energy Consumption Standards for Processing Catfish at 1,050 kWh/ton Product

On December 25, 2018, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Circular 52/2018/TT-BCT stipulating the energy consumption standards in the seafood processing industry, applicable to the industrial processing process of the pangasius and shrimp product groups.

According to the regulations stipulated in Circular 52, the energy consumption norms in the pangasius and shrimp processing industry are as follows:

- The energy consumption norm applicable to the industrial processing of pangasius products is 1,050 kWh/ton of equivalent pangasius product and 2,050 kWh/ton of equivalent shrimp product until the end of 2025.- The energy consumption norm applicable to the industrial processing of pangasius products is 900 kWh/ton of equivalent pangasius product and 1,625 kWh/ton of equivalent shrimp product from 2026 to the end of 2030.

Also according to Circular 52, the equivalent product is a product processed and converted corresponding to filleted pangasius frozen on an IQF conveyor belt with 15% glazing, refrozen once, and fresh shrimp frozen on an IQF conveyor belt, according to the energy conversion factor specified in Appendix I of Circular 52.
