Duties and powers of the Inspectorate of the Department of Home Affairs of Vietnam from January 01, 2013

Recently, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree 90/2012/ND-CP stipulating the organization and operation of inspection activities in the home affairs sector.

Article 6 of Decree 90/2012/ND-CP stipulates that the Inspectorate of the Department of Home Affairs of Vietnam shall perform the duties and powers specified in Article 24 of the Law on Inspection and the following duties and powers:

- Organize professional training sessions for specialized internal inspection for Inspectors and officials conducting inspection work under the Department of Home Affairs of Vietnam;

- Monitor, urge, and inspect the implementation of conclusions, recommendations, and handling decisions regarding inspections by the Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Vietnam and the Inspectorate of the Department of Home Affairs of Vietnam;

- Propagate, guide, inspect, and urge agencies and units under the management of the Department of Home Affairs of Vietnam in the implementation of laws on inspection;

- Summarize and draw lessons from internal inspection work within the state management scope of the Department of Home Affairs of Vietnam;

- Perform other duties and powers as prescribed by law.

Additionally, Article 7 of Decree 90/2012/ND-CP stipulates that the Chief Inspector of the Department of Home Affairs of Vietnam shall perform the duties and powers specified in Article 25 of the Law on Inspection and the following duties and powers:

- Report to the Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Vietnam, the Chief Inspector of the province, and the Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Home Affairs on inspection work within his/her responsibilities;

- Inspect the responsibility of the Heads of agencies and units under the management of the Department of Home Affairs of Vietnam in the implementation of laws on inspection;

- Summon officials and public employees from relevant agencies and units to participate in inspection activities;

- Perform other duties and powers as prescribed by law.
