Content of Inspection for Verification of Commitments on Exported Aquatic Products

According to its contents, the inspection to confirm the commitment of exported seafood products as stipulated in Circular 02 includes:

- Comparing information about fishing vessels and other information (flag state, quantity, species of seafood) in the certificates of capture issued by the competent authority of the exporting country for batches of imported raw materials into Vietnam with the following information:

- List of IUU fishing vessels of the competent authority of the importing country and those of the regional fisheries organizations (RFMOs) recognized by the competent authority of the importing country;- List of registered and licensed fishing vessels (including information about: species of seafood, area, fishing season) of the regional fisheries organizations (RFMOs) recognized by the competent authority of the importing country (for countries whose flag vessels are members of these organizations);

- Comparing the quantity and species of imported captured seafood raw materials for processing and export with the information on imported shipments inspected and certified for quarantine and food safety by the Department of Animal Health upon importation into Vietnam;

- Comparing the quantity and species of imported captured seafood raw materials for processing and export with the statistical records confirming the commitment that exported seafood products originate from imported captured seafood and the monitoring records during the inspection and certification of food safety for batches of exported captured seafood;

- Other regulations of the competent authority of the importing country regarding the commitment that exported seafood products originate from imported captured seafood.
