Content and Format of the Examination for Promotion from Class II Lecturer to Class I Lecturer

1. General Knowledge Test

- Test Contents:

- Policies, guidelines of the Communist Party, and laws of the State on education and training in general and higher education in particular;- International trends, strategies, and policies for the development of higher education in Vietnam;- Policies and state management on higher education;- Issues concerning the innovation of higher education management and school administration;- Viewpoints and strategic orientations for the development of various sectors or specialties of the school;- Laws on public employees suitable to the standards of senior lecturer professional titles (Class I);- The scope of knowledge for the test and the test contents on education and training comprise 70%, and on public employee laws comprise 30%.

- Test Format: Essay.

- Test Duration: 180 minutes.

2. Professional Knowledge and Skills Test

- Test Contents: Candidates are required to present an overview report on their training outcomes and scientific research results since being appointed to their current titles up to the time of registering for the rank promotion exam, and to discuss issues pertaining to the specialized field they are responsible for.

- Test Format: Presentation and direct interview.

- Test Duration for Presentation and Interview: 30 minutes per person.

3. Foreign Language Test

- Test Contents: Skills in reading comprehension, writing, listening, and speaking (conversation) at level 4 (B2) according to the standards of senior lecturer professional titles (Class I), in which the public employee registers for one of the foreign languages: English, French, Russian, German, or Chinese.

In the case of lecturers specializing in foreign languages, they must take a second foreign language test at level 4 (B2) according to the standards of senior lecturer professional titles (Class I).

- Test Format: Writing and interview (conversation).

- Test Duration: Writing 90 minutes and interview (conversation) 15 minutes.

4. Information Technology Test

- Test Contents: Basic information technology skills as required by the standards of senior lecturer professional titles (Class I).

- Test Format: Multiple choice or practical test on a computer.

- Test Duration: 45 minutes.
