03 requirements for students in the field of Network Security at the intermediate level

On December 28, 2018, the Ministry of Labor - War Invalids and Social Affairs issued Circular 44/2018/TT-BLDTBXH stipulating the minimum volume of knowledge and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation at the intermediate level and college level for industries and professions in the fields of computing and information technology.

To be specific:, Circular 44/2018/TT-BLDTBXH stipulates 03 requirements that students must achieve after graduating from the intermediate level in Cybersecurity:

1. Knowledge volume

- Able to describe the operation of network infrastructure, network devices, network cabling systems, and network infrastructure security;- Able to describe the operation of the operating system, network services, and network service security;- Able to describe the operation of database management systems and database security;- Able to identify and address basic security vulnerabilities in devices, services, and users;- Manage the cybersecurity system;- Explain IT (Information Technology) law, information security, intellectual property;- Identify the handover procedures and work log;- Identify occupational safety standards;- Present basic knowledge of politics, culture, society, law, national defense and security, and physical education as required.

2. Skills requirements

- Use basic information technology as required;- Establish a firewall system, endpoint security system, intrusion detection, and prevention system to protect the network system;- Configure and manage security for the server system and network services;- Configure and manage security for the database system;- Able to find and remediate basic security vulnerabilities: device vulnerabilities, applications, users;- Manage the cybersecurity system;- Record and report work logs and work progress;- Implement industrial hygiene measures and occupational safety;- Read and understand basic English documents related to IT and Cybersecurity;- Communicate effectively through writing, presentation, and discussion;- Use basic foreign language skills, reaching level 1/6 in Vietnam’s foreign language proficiency framework; apply foreign language skills to some professional tasks in the industry.

3. Autonomy and responsibility

- Perform tasks with ethics, awareness of professional duties, civic responsibility, proper professional motivation, respect for copyright, diligence, creativity in work, sense of work discipline, and respect for agency and business rules;- Adapt to different work environments (domestic enterprises, foreign enterprises);- Minimize data leakage and loss while performing tasks; optimize configuration settings to save processing power and electricity for computers and network devices;- Comply with state laws and policies. Civic responsibility regarding IT laws, information security, and intellectual property;- Take responsibility for personal work results and a part of group work before the leaders of the agency, organization, or enterprise;- Solve tasks under changing work conditions;- Evaluate the quality of products after completion.
