What are standards for formwork in ensuring safety at construction sites in Vietnam?

Pursuant to Section 2.11.2 of the National technical regulation on safety in construction QCVN 18:2021/BXD promulgated together with Circular 16/2021/TT-BXD stipulating standards for formwork in ensuring safety at construction sites in Vietnam as follows:

2.11.2.1 Survey and design works; construction and erection; safety testing and inspection; inspection and supervision; monitoring, use and maintenance; dismantling must comply with the provisions from 2.3.1 to 2.3.7 and the following regulations:

a) Formwork must be designed and erected so that the working platform, bracing system, stabilizer, ladder, ramp and other means of access can be easily installed and connected to the formwork;

b) Vertical or inclined formwork must be inspected, erected and dismantled under the supervision of an experienced person;

c) Formwork installation drawings with detailed information on spacing of support beams and supports shall be provided to the erector;

d) Formwork and supporting trees made of wood and bamboo must be of appropriate size, have sufficient quality, can withstand the temperature and speed of concrete pouring;

dd) The adjustable support systems and trees must be locked in position after adjustment;

e) It is only allowed to dismantle the urban construction site after the concrete has reached the strength specified in the technical instructions and (or) applicable standards;

g) Avoid the danger of falling during dismantling, the vertical formwork must be completely dismantled; undismantled parts must be firmly supported or anchored;

h) Mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic lifting equipment used for formwork must be equipped with an automatic holding or braking device to prevent danger in the event of a failure of the lifting device;

i) Vacuum lifters should only be used on smooth, clean surfaces and must have an automatic shut-off function in case of power failure or equipment failure.

2.11.2.2 For specialized formwork systems (sliding formwork, climbing formwork): Surveying, designing, construction, erection, testing and inspection of safety (if they are of the type subject to inspection mentioned at point c of 2.1.1.5), use, dismantling and other related works must comply with regulations from 2.3.1 to 2.3.7.

What are standards for concrete construction in ensuring safety at construction sites in Vietnam?

Pursuant to Section 2.11.3 of the National technical regulation on safety in construction QCVN 18:2021/BXD promulgated together with Circular 16/2021/TT-BXD stipulating standards for concrete construction in ensuring safety at construction sites in Vietnam as follows:

2.11.3.1 The construction of cast-in-place concrete structures, especially large span and multi-storey concrete structures, must comply with the order specified in the construction method. Construction methods must be prepared based on design documents, technical instructions for construction and acceptance and standards applicable to the project, which must contain the following important information:

a) Specifications of steel cables, reinforced concrete, concrete and other materials used, including technical measures for installation and handling;

b) Location and arrangement of steel and reinforcement in the structure;

c) Calculation results of structural strength in case the structure and arrangement of steel and reinforcement in the structure must be adjusted to match the actual construction. For prestressed cables, a specific tensile strength and elongation table is required.

2.11.3.2 Information relating to the concreting process shall be recorded and retained, including factors that may affect the strength development of the concrete.

2.11.3.3 For prestressed cable pulling work, the cable pulling equipment operator must not stand directly with the cable pulling head position.

2.11.3.4 Construction stages (for example: erection of urban infrastructure, steel cables, reinforced concrete; pouring concrete; pulling prestressed cables; curing; dismantling formwork; testing and other works with related) must be established in the process and must be coordinated, checked and monitored by a competent person.

NOTE: Competent person specified in 2.11.1.1.

2.11.3.5 During the concreting process, the urban infrastructure must be regularly inspected (see 2.3.6) to promptly detect unsafe risks (such as the risk of collapse of the support systems, formwork platforms and other risks).

2.11.3.6 Construction materials, components, machines and equipment must not be concentrated in piles or placed directly in areas where the concrete is hardening.

Best regards!
