Based on Section 3 of the National Technical Regulation QCVN 07:2019/BKHCN issued together with Circular 13/2019/TT-BKHCN, the mechanical testing methods for steel used in reinforced concrete are as follows:
- Testing methods for steel reinforcement and prestressed concrete reinforcement according to:
+ TCVN 7937-1:2013 (ISO 15630-1:2010), Steel for the reinforcement of concrete - Test methods - Part 1: Bars, wires and welded fabric.
+ TCVN 7937-2:2013 (ISO 15630-2:2010), Steel for the reinforcement of concrete - Test methods - Part 2: Welded fabric.
+ TCVN 7937-3:2013 (ISO 15630-3:2010), Steel for the reinforcement of concrete - Test methods - Part 3: Prestressing steel.
Prestressed concrete reinforcement steel produced or imported must undergo stress relaxation testing according to the standards declared and applied by the manufacturer or importer. The stress relaxation value at 1000 hours (or more) can be extrapolated from tests with a minimum duration of 120 hours, and it must be ensured that the extrapolated result at 1000 hours (or more) is equivalent to the actual result at 1000 hours (or more). In the test report, the extrapolation method must be described in detail. The test results must be provided, documented in the compliance assessment file, or included in the import dossier.
- Testing methods for cold-drawn steel wire for concrete reinforcement and welded steel mesh production according to:
+ TCVN 197-1:2014 (ISO 6892-1:2009), Metallic materials - Tensile testing - Part 1: Method of test at room temperature.
+ TCVN 6287:1997 (ISO 10665:1990), Plain bars for concrete reinforcement - Bend and re-bend test.
- Chemical composition testing method for steel used in concrete reinforcement according to TCVN 8998:2018 (ASTM E 415-17), Carbon and low-alloy steels - Determination of chemical composition by vacuum spectrometry.
- Testing methods for epoxy-coated steel for concrete reinforcement and prestressed concrete according to:
+ TCVN 7934:2009 (ISO 14654:1999), Epoxy-coated steel for concrete reinforcement.
+ TCVN 7935:2009 (ISO 14655:1999), Epoxy-coated strand for prestressed concrete.
+ TCVN 7936:2009 (ISO 14656:1999), Epoxy powder and sealing materials for the coating of steel reinforcement.
- In cases where the manufacturer or importer declares the application of standards for steel used in concrete reinforcement production or importation according to international standards, regional standards, national standards of ASEAN countries, BS, ASTM, GOST, JIS, KS, GB, IS, CNS, the testing methods shall be implemented according to the corresponding declared standards. In the case where the declared standards do not specify the testing methods, the testing shall be conducted according to TCVN for specific products.
- In cases where the standards declared for steel used in concrete reinforcement production or importation are not mentioned in Section 3.5, the testing methods shall be implemented according to Sections 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4.
