Wastewater Treatment Plant, Wastewater Treatment Station (WWTS) according to the National Technical Regulation
According to the National Technical Regulations on Construction Planning issued with Circular 22/2019/TT-BXD (effective from July 1, 2020), the wastewater treatment plants, wastewater treatment stations (WTS) regulations are as follows:
- Urban, medical, industrial park, and craft village domestic wastewater must be treated to meet the regulations in environmental standards for wastewater before being discharged to receiving sources and other relevant standards; Waste sludge from the drainage system must be collected, treated as per regulations, or transported to centralized solid waste treatment facilities;
- The location of newly planned wastewater treatment plants, WTS should prioritize planning at the end of the receiving water flow after treatment, at the end of the city's main wind direction, in an area with sufficient land for future expansion; The location of the wastewater discharge point must comply with the legal regulations on water resource management;
- In the case that wastewater treatment plants, WTS must be placed at the water source or the main wind direction of the city, the environmental safety distance (ESD) in Table 2.23 must be increased by at least 1.5 times;
- The land area for constructing newly planned wastewater treatment plants, WTS is determined based on capacity, treatment technology, or calculation according to the chosen standards but must ensure not to exceed the target of 0.2 ha/1,000 m^3^/day.
NOTE: The controlled land area index for constructing wastewater treatment plants, WTS does not include the reservoir area, stabilized wastewater area after treatment, sludge drying yard, expansion reserve area (if any), and the organizational area of the ESD of the wastewater treatment plant, WTS itself.
The above is the content regarding wastewater treatment plants, WTS according to the National Technical Regulations. For more information on this matter, you can refer to Circular 22/2019/TT-BXD.
