Requirements for fire safety distances for buildings and industrial works in Vietnam
Requirements for fire safety distances for buildings and industrial works
Pursuant to Section E.2 Appendix E of the National Technical Regulation on Fire Safety for Buildings and Constructions issued together with Circular 02/2021/TT-BXD, the requirements for fire safety distances for residential buildings, public facilities, and auxiliary buildings of industrial establishments are specified as follows:
The fire safety distance between buildings and industrial structures, depending on their fire resistance class and production category, must not be less than the values specified in Table E.2.
Table E.2 - Fire Safety Distance Between Buildings and Industrial Structures
Fire Resistance Class of the First Building | Distance, m**, to the Second Building with Fire Resistance Class** | ||
I, II | III | IV, V | |
I, II | - For buildings and structures belonging to production categories D and E: not specified. - For buildings and structures belonging to production categories A, B, and C: 9 m (see Note 3). |
9 | 12 |
III | 9 | 12 | 15 |
IV and V | 12 | 15 | 18 |
NOTE 1: The minimum distance between buildings and structures is the clear space between their walls or outer structures. In cases where the building or structure has projections made of combustible materials extending more than 1 m, such projections shall determine the minimum distance. NOTE 2: The distance between production buildings and industrial structures is not specified in the following cases: a) If the total floor area of two or more buildings with fire resistance class III, IV does not exceed the maximum permissible area within one fire compartment (Appendix H). b) If the wall of the building or structure facing another structure is a fire-resistant wall that is higher or wider. c) If buildings and structures with fire resistance class III, irrespective of their production category, have opposite-facing walls that are either solid or with sealed openings using block glass (or wire-reinforced glass) with a fire resistance rating of no less than 1 hour. NOTE 3: The distances specified in the table for buildings and structures with fire resistance class I, II, in production categories A, B, C, can be reduced from 9 m to 6 m if one of the following conditions is met: a) The buildings and structures are equipped with an automatic fire extinguishing system. b) The specific fire load in the buildings of production category C is less than or equal to 10 kg per 1 m^2^ of floor area. |
Sincerely!
