What is the fine for riding a motorcycle with three people?
According to Article 30 of the 2008 Road Traffic Law, the operator of a two-wheeled motorcycle or moped is only permitted to carry one passenger, except in the following cases, where carrying up to two passengers is allowed:
- Transporting a person who is ill for emergency treatment;- Children under 14 years old;- Escorting a person who has committed a legal violation.
According to Clauses 2 and 3, Article 6 of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP:
A fine ranging from VND 200,000 to VND 300,000 shall be imposed on operators for the following violations:
Carrying 02 passengers on the vehicle, except in cases of transporting an ill person for emergency treatment, children under 14 years old, or escorting a person who has committed a legal violation.
In the case of carrying 03 or more passengers on the vehicle, a fine ranging from VND 400,000 to VND 600,000 shall be imposed.
In the event a violation of the above regulations results in a traffic accident, the driver's license shall be revoked for a period ranging from 02 months to 04 months.
Thus, if a motorcycle carries three passengers (excluding the driver), a fine ranging from VND 400,000 to VND 600,000 shall be imposed.
