What are the fines imposed on a motorcycle operator who consumes beer or alcohol while participating in traffic on Lunar New Year holiday in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 6 of the Decree 100/2019/ND-CP stipulating the fines imposed on a motorcycle operator who consumes beer or alcohol while participating in traffic on Lunar New Year holiday in Vietnam as follows:
- A fine ranging from VND 2,000,000 to VND 3,000,000 shall be imposed upon a vehicle operator who operates a vehicle under the influence of alcohol but BAC does not exceed 50 mg per 100 ml of blood or BrAC does not exceed 0.25 mg per liter of breath (according to Clause 6.c Article 6 of the Decree 100/2019/ND-CP).
The violation shall also lead to suspension of driving license from 10 months to 12 months (according to Clause 10.dd Article 6 of the Decree 100/2019/ND-CP).
- A fine ranging from VND 4,000,000 to VND 5,000,000 shall be imposed upon a vehicle operator who operates the vehicle while BAC exceeds 50 - 80 mg per 100 ml of blood, or BrAC exceeds 0.25 - 0.4 mg per liter of breath (according to Clause 7.c Article 6 of the Decree 100/2019/ND-CP).
The violation shall also lead to suspension of driving license from 16 months to 18 months (according to Clause 10.e Article 6 of the Decree 100/2019/ND-CP).
- A fine ranging from VND 6,000,000 to VND 8,000,000 shall be imposed upon a vehicle operator who operates the vehicle while BAC exceeds 80 mg per 100 ml of blood or BrAC exceeds 0.4 mg per liter of breath (according to Clause 8.e Article 6 of the Decree 100/2019/ND-CP).
The violation shall also lead to suspension of driving license from 22 months to 24 months (according to Clause 10.g Article 6 of the Decree 100/2019/ND-CP).

11. Apart from incurring fines, the violating operator shall also incur the following additional penalties:
e) The violation(s) specified in Point c Clause 6 of this Article shall lead to suspension of driving license from 10 months to 12 months;
g) The violation(s) specified in Point c Clause 8 of this Article shall lead to suspension of driving license from 16 months to 18 months;
h) The violation(s) specified in Clause 10 of this Article shall lead to suspension of driving license from 22 months to 24 months;
