Vietnam: What are the penalties imposed for organizing beauty contests with content offending religion?

Under Clause 7, Article 12 of Decree 38/2021/ND-CP:

A fine ranging from 40,000,000 VND to 50,000,000 VND shall be imposed for organizing beauty or model contests that distort history, independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity; repudiate revolutionary achievements; offend beliefs, religions; insult national leaders, heroes or celebrities.

Thus, a fine ranging from 40,000,000 VND to 50,000,000 VND may be imposed for organizing beauty contests with content offending religion in Vietnam.

Note: This fine shall be imposed on individual violators. For a violating organization, the fine will be doubled (Clause 2, 3, Article 5 of this Decree).

In addition, the organization of beauty contests will be suspended for 6-12 months (Clause 8) and violators must return any illegal gains obtained (Point dd Clause 9 Article 12).
