Penalties for Illegally Transporting Cultural Products Across Borders

According to Point b, Clause 2, Article 12 of Decree 96/2020/ND-CP (effective from October 10, 2020), the regulation is as follows:

"Article 12. Acts of illegal transportation of goods or currency across the border outside the checkpoint area but not to the extent of criminal liability

2. A fine of from 5,000,000 VND to 10,000,000 VND shall be imposed for one of the following acts:

…

b) Illegally transporting cultural goods across the border."

Thus, according to this regulation, anyone who illegally transports cultural goods across the border but not to the extent of criminal liability will be fined from 5,000,000 VND to 10,000,000 VND depending on the level of violation.

Besides, the violating cultural goods will also be confiscated. If the cultural goods are harmful, they must be destroyed (According to Clauses 5 and 6 of this Article).
