Is it Permissible to Make a U-Turn on a Bridge?
According to the provisions of the current law, when performing a U-turn with a car, it is not allowed to do so on a bridge. To be specific: at Clause 4, Article 15 of the Road Traffic Law 2008, it is stipulated:
It is prohibited to make a U-turn on pedestrian crosswalks, on bridges, bridgeheads, underpasses, in road tunnels, on highways, at level crossings with railroads, narrow roads, slopes, and road sections with obscured visibility.
In the case where the driver of a car performs a U-turn on a bridge, they will be penalized according to the provisions at Point k, Clause 2, Article 5 of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP, specifically:
- A fine from 400,000 VND to 600,000 VND for drivers committing any of the following violations: Including.
Making a U-turn on pedestrian crosswalks, on bridges, bridgeheads, underpasses, except where traffic organization in these areas has arranged a place for U-turns.
