Is a Husband Required to Apologize for Insulting His Wife?
According to Article 51 of Decree 167/2013/ND-CP regarding acts of insulting the honor and dignity of family members, as follows:
A fine ranging from 500,000 VND to 1,000,000 VND shall be imposed for acts of slander, reproach, or insulting the honor and dignity of family members.
A fine ranging from 1,000,000 VND to 1,500,000 VND shall be imposed for any of the following acts:
a) Disclosing or disseminating documents or materials that are private secrets of family members in order to insult their honor and dignity;
b) Using information media to insult the honor and dignity of family members;
c) Distributing or disseminating flyers, articles, images, or sounds with the intent to insult the honor and dignity of the victim.
- Remedial measures:
a) Compulsory public apology upon the request of the victim for the acts specified in Clause 1 and Clause 2 of this Article;
b) Compulsory retrieval of documents, materials, flyers, articles, images, sounds for the acts specified in Points a, c of Clause 2 of this Article.
Thus, in the event that the local authorities impose administrative penalties for the above acts by your husband, your husband must make a public apology if you request it.
