Installing License Plate Lights on Cars: Is It Penalized?
Section 13, Article 8 of the Road Traffic Law of 2008 stipulates prohibited acts as follows:
Installation and use of horns, lights not in accordance with the manufacturer's design for each type of motor vehicle; use of sound equipment causing disruption to traffic safety, public order.
=> Therefore, if a car's initial design does not include a license plate light and the owner installs such a light arbitrarily, they will be fined. However, if the car's design originally included the light but, for some reason, the owner is now reattaching it, they will not be fined.
According to Point a, Clause 3, Article 16 of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP:
A fine ranging from 800,000 VND to 1,000,000 VND for the act of driving a vehicle with additional lights installed at the front, rear, roof, undercarriage, or on one or both sides of the vehicle.
In addition to the aforementioned fines, the driver of the vehicle with the attached license plate light will have their driving license revoked for 1 to 3 months. Furthermore, the lights installed in violation on the car will also be immediately confiscated by the traffic police.
Respectfully.
