How much is the fine for operating a motorcycle without a driver license in Vietnam?
Based on Clause 11 Article 2 of Decree 123/2021/ND-CP:
...
- A fine ranging from 1,000,000 VND to 2,000,000 VND shall be imposed on individuals operating two-wheeled motorcycles with a cylinder capacity of less than 175 cm^3^ and similar vehicles if found committing any of the following violations:
a) Not having a driver license or using a driver license not issued by a competent authority, or a driver license that has been erased or altered;
- A fine ranging from 4,000,000 VND to 5,000,000 VND shall be imposed on individuals operating two-wheeled motorcycles with a cylinder capacity of 175 cm^3^ or more, or three-wheeled motorcycles if found committing any of the following violations:
b) Not having a driver license or using a driver license not issued by a competent authority, or a driver license that has been erased or altered;
Therefore, in the case of riding a motorcycle without a license, an administrative penalty will be imposed. For motorcycles under 175 cm^3^ without a license, the fine will range from 1,000,000 VND to 2,000,000 VND. For motorcycles 175 cm^3^ or higher, the fine will range from 4,000,000 VND to 5,000,000 VND.
What is the minimum age to drive in Vietnam?
Based on Clause 1 Article 60 of the 2008 Road Traffic Law, the following regulations on age and health of drivers are outlined:
- The age of drivers is regulated as follows:
a) Individuals aged 16 and above are permitted to operate motorcycles with a cylinder capacity below 50 cm^3^;
b) Individuals aged 18 and above are permitted to operate two-wheeled motorcycles, three-wheeled motorcycles with a cylinder capacity of 50 cm^3^ or more, and similar vehicles; trucks, tractors with a load below 3,500 kg; passenger cars with up to 9 seats;
c) Individuals aged 21 and above are permitted to operate trucks, tractors with a load of 3,500 kg or more; B2 class vehicles with trailers (FB2);
d) Individuals aged 24 and above are permitted to operate passenger cars with 10 to 30 seats; C class vehicles with trailers, semi-trailers (FC);
đ) Individuals aged 27 and above are permitted to operate passenger cars with more than 30 seats; D class vehicles with trailers (FD);
e) The maximum age for individuals operating passenger cars with more than 30 seats is 50 years for females and 55 years for males.
According to current regulations, individuals aged 18 and above are permitted to operate motorcycles with a cylinder capacity below 175 cm^3^.
