How are Motorcycles with Auxiliary Lights Penalized?
Based on Clause 13, Article 8 of the 2008 Law on Road Traffic, which stipulates the prohibitions when participating in traffic. To be specific:
- Blowing horns, revving the engine continuously; blowing horns between 10 PM to 5 AM, using air horns, using high beam lights in urban areas and densely populated areas, except for priority vehicles on duty as prescribed by this Law.
- Installing, using horns, lights not in accordance with the manufacturer's design for each type of motor vehicle; using sound devices that cause disorder to traffic safety and public order.
Based on Clause 5c, Article 30 of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP, which stipulates:
A fine from 800,000 VND to 2,000,000 VND for individuals, from 1,600,000 VND to 4,000,000 VND for organizations that own motorcycles, mopeds, and vehicles similar to motorcycles for committing one of the following violations:
+ Arbitrarily changing the frame, engine, shape, size, and characteristics of the vehicle.
Thus, when you install additional lights on your motorcycle contrary to the original design, altering the characteristics of the vehicle, it is a violation of traffic rules and the administrative fine ranges from 800,000 VND to 2,000,000 VND.
