What are guidelines for checking deducted driver license points on the VNeID 2025 in Vietnam?
To check the deducted driver license points on VNeID:
Step 1: Log in and select the Document Wallet section at the bottom of the toolbar. Then, choose the driver license section and authenticate using a Passcode or fingerprint set on the phone.
Step 2: Check the number of driver license points displayed by the system corresponding to the license class you have.
The driver license points will be displayed as 12 points if there are no violations. If points have been deducted, the system will show the deducted points, the agency handling the violation, the date of processing, and the decision on the violation.
Note: To check deducted driver license points on VNeID, you must have a level 2 electronic identification account and have integrated the driver license.

How many points do driver licenses in Vietnam have?
Based on Article 58 of the Road Traffic Safety and Order Law 2024 on driver license points:
Article 58. Points of the driver license
- The points of the driver license are used to manage compliance with road traffic safety and order laws by drivers on the database system about road traffic safety and order, totaling 12 points. The number of points deducted per violation depends on the nature and severity of the violation. The data on deducted points of the violator's driver license will be updated into the database system immediately after the penalty decision takes effect and notification to the driver whose license points are deducted.
- If a driver license has not been fully deducted and no points are deducted within 12 months from the most recent deduction, it will be restored to full 12 points.
- In cases where all points of a driver license have been deducted, the license holder is not allowed to operate vehicles under that driver license. After a period of at least 6 months from the date all points were deducted, the license holder may take a legal safety and order knowledge test organized by the Traffic Police according to Clause 7, Article 61 of this Law, if the results meet the requirements, the license will be restored to 12 points.

What are the categories of driver licenses in Vietnam?
Based on Article 57 of the Road Traffic Safety and Order Law 2024 on classes of driver licenses:
- Class A1 is for drivers of two-wheel motorbikes with a cylinder capacity up to 125 cm3 or an electric motor power up to 11 kW
- Class A is for drivers of two-wheel motorbikes with a cylinder capacity over 125 cm3 or an electric motor power above 11 kW and vehicles regulated for class A1 licenses
- Class B1 is for drivers of three-wheel motorbikes and vehicles regulated for class A1 licenses
- Class B is for drivers of passenger cars with up to 8 seats (excluding the driver's seat); freight and specialized cars with a total design weight up to 3,500 kg; vehicles regulated for class B licenses towing trailers with a total design weight up to 750 kg
- Class C1 is for drivers of freight and specialized cars with a total design weight over 3,500 kg to 7,500 kg; vehicles regulated for class C1 licenses towing trailers with a total design weight up to 750 kg; vehicles regulated for class B licenses
- Class C is for drivers of freight and specialized cars with a total design weight over 7,500 kg; vehicles regulated for class C licenses towing trailers with a total design weight up to 750 kg; vehicles regulated for class B and C1 licenses
- Class D1 is for drivers of passenger cars with more than 8 seats (excluding the driver's seat) up to 16 seats (excluding the driver's seat); passenger cars regulated for class D1 licenses towing trailers with a total design weight up to 750 kg; vehicles regulated for B, C1, C licenses
- Class D2 is for drivers of passenger cars (including buses) with more than 16 seats (excluding the driver's seat) up to 29 seats (excluding the driver's seat); passenger cars regulated for class D2 licenses towing trailers with a total design weight up to 750 kg; vehicles regulated for B, C1, C, D1 licenses
- Class D is for drivers of passenger cars (including buses) with more than 29 seats (excluding the driver's seat); sleeper passenger cars; passenger cars regulated for class D licenses towing trailers with a total design weight up to 750 kg; vehicles regulated for B, C1, C, D1, D2 licenses
- Class BE is for drivers of vehicles regulated for class B licenses towing trailers with a total design weight over 750 kg
- Class C1E is for drivers of vehicles regulated for class C1 licenses towing trailers with a total design weight over 750 kg
- Class CE is for drivers of vehicles regulated for class C licenses towing trailers with a total design weight over 750 kg; tractor trailers
