Driving a car in the wrong lane causing a traffic accident will incur what penalty?
At Point a Clause 7 Article 5 of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP, it is stipulated:
Article 5. Penalties for drivers of cars and vehicles similar to cars violating road traffic rules
A fine ranging from VND 10,000,000 to VND 12,000,000 shall be imposed on drivers who commit one of the following violations. Among them are:
Failing to pay attention to observing, driving over the speed limit causing a traffic accident; stopping, parking, making a U-turn, reversing, avoiding, overtaking, changing direction, changing lanes not in compliance causing a traffic accident; not driving in the correct lane, failing to maintain a safe distance between two vehicles as prescribed causing a traffic accident or driving into a road having a sign prohibiting entry to the type of vehicle being driven, driving in the wrong direction on a one-way street, driving in the wrong direction on a road with a "No entry" sign causing a traffic accident, except for violations stipulated at point a clause 8 of this Article;
In addition, the above violations shall also be subject to the revocation of the driver's license from 02 months to 04 months.
=> Thus, the act of driving a car not in the correct lane causing a traffic accident will be fined from VND 10,000,000 to VND 12,000,000 and the driver's license will be revoked from 02 months to 04 months.
