Does a Motorcycle Helmet Have an Expiration Date?
Currently, there are no specific regulations regarding the expiry date of helmets. However, for personal safety during traffic participation, it is recommended to replace the helmet after three years of use, or if the helmet has been impacted or shows signs of compromising safety, it should also be replaced. Additionally, when purchasing a helmet, one should choose reputable brands to avoid counterfeit, imitative, and low-quality products.
According to Article 6 of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP, penalties for operators of motorbikes (including electric bikes) are stipulated as follows:
A fine ranging from VND 200,000 to VND 300,000 shall be imposed on operators who commit any of the following violations:
- Not wearing a “helmet for motorbike riders” or wearing a “helmet for motorbike riders” without fastening the strap correctly while operating vehicles in traffic on public roads;
- Carrying passengers on the vehicle who are not wearing a “helmet for motorbike riders” or wearing a “helmet for motorbike riders” without fastening the strap correctly, except in cases of carrying people for emergency medical treatment, children under six years old, or escorting individuals who have committed law violations.
Sincerely.
