Is there a penalty for parking a car on an intersection in Vietnam?

I want to ask if I park my car on an intersection, will I be fined? Currently I have received a penalty notice but I don't understand if it is wrong for me to park like that?

Reply:

Pursuant to the provisions of Clause 4, Article 18 of the 2008 Road Traffic Law, drivers of vehicles participating in traffic are not allowed to stop or park at intersections and within 5 meters from the edge of the intersection.

Thus, if you park your car at the intersection, you are violating this regulation in Vietnam.

Regarding fines: according to the provisions of Point dd, Clause 3, Article 5 of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP:

The act of stopping or parking cars and other vehicles similar to cars at an intersection within 05 m from the edge of the intersection shall be fined from 800,000 VND to 1,000,000 VND.

Thus, the police agency sending you a penalty notice in this case is in accordance with the law in Vietnam. Please comply with your obligation to pay fines according to regulations.
