Can parking motorbikes on the sidewalk be impounded in Vietnam?
Please ask, I parked my motorbike on the sidewalk to buy goods so I was discovered and sanctioned by the police. So, besides being fined, can my motorbikes be impounded in Vietnam?
According to Point dd, Clause 2, Article 6 of the Decree 100/2019/ND-CP regulating Penalties imposed upon operators of mopeds and motorcycles (including electric motorcycles) and the like violating road traffic rules in Vietnam, in which:
2. A fine ranging from VND 200,000 to VND 300,000 shall be imposed upon a vehicle operator who commits any of the following violations:
dd) Stopping, parking on the roadway in a manner that obstructs the traffic; stopping in groups of 03 vehicles or more on the roadway or in a road tunnel; parking on the roadway or on the sidewalk in urban areas against the law;
Thus, in case you park on the sidewalk, you may be fined between VND 200,000 and VND 300,000. In addition, in Article 82 of this Decree, this act does not fall into the case of impounding vehicles.
