On July 15, 2022, the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam issued Decision 840/QD-TTg 2022 to designate November 23 annually as “Vietnam Inspectorate Traditional Day”.
The Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam requires the organization of “Vietnam Inspectorate Traditional Day” as follows:
- Practical, economical, effective, and avoiding formality.
- Educate on tradition, motivate the labor, work competition movement, enhance awareness of organizational discipline, law compliance, evoke and promote the honor, pride, responsibility in carrying out duty, public service, and revolutionary ethics of officials and public employees, and workers in the Inspectorate sector.
- Praise and reward collectives and individuals with achievements in fulfilling political duties, exemplarily implementing the policies, guidelines, and laws of the Vietnam Communist Party and the State by appropriate forms compliant with the law.
Thus, November 23 annually is Vietnam Inspectorate Traditional Day. According to the Lunar Calendar, November 23, 2024, corresponds to October 23, 2024, in the lunar calendar.

What are the duties and powers of the Government Inspectorate in Vietnam?
According to Article 11 of the Law on Inspectorate 2022, the duties and powers of the Government Inspectorate are stipulated as follows:
- In the field of inspection, the Government Inspectorate assists the Government of Vietnam in state management of inspection work and has the following duties and powers:
+ Developing policies and laws on inspection.
+ Developing the inspection program orientation for submission to the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam for approval.
+ Developing the inspection plan of the Government Inspectorate; guiding Ministries, ministerial-level agencies (hereinafter collectively referred to as Ministries), government agencies, and provincial People's Committees to develop inspection plans.
+ Organizing implementation and guiding Ministries, government agencies, and provincial People's Committees in organizing the implementation of inspection plans.
+ Inspecting the implementation of policies, laws, duties, and powers of Ministries, government agencies, and provincial People's Committees.
+ Inspecting the management of state capital and assets in state-owned enterprises when authorized by the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam.
+ Inspecting complex cases involving the management responsibilities of multiple Ministries, government agencies, and provincial People's Committees.
+ Inspecting other cases when authorized by the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam.
+ Re-inspecting cases already concluded by Ministry Inspectors, inspection agencies of government agencies, or Provincial Inspectors but discovered to have signs of legal violation.
+ Monitoring, urging, and checking the implementation of inspection conclusions, recommendations, and decisions for handling inspections by the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam and the Government Inspectorate.
+ Checking the accuracy and legality of inspection conclusions by Ministry Inspectors, inspection agencies of government agencies, Provincial Inspectors, and decisions for post-inspection handling by Ministers, Heads of government agencies, and Chairmen of provincial People's Committees when necessary.
+ Coordinating with State Audit to handle overlaps and duplications between inspection activities and state audit activities; guiding Ministry Inspectors and Provincial Inspectors to handle overlaps and duplications between inspection activities and state audit activities.
+ Directing inspection work, training, guiding inspection professional skills, and granting inspection officer professional certificates.
+ Summarizing and reporting on inspection work results.
- Assisting the Government of Vietnam in state management of citizen reception, complaint, and denunciation resolution; performing duties and exercising powers in citizen reception, complaint, and denunciation resolution in accordance with the law.
- Assisting the Government of Vietnam in state management of anti-corruption and negative behaviors; performing duties and exercising powers in anti-corruption and negative behaviors in accordance with the law.
Which agencies are the administrative-level inspectorates?
According to Article 9 of the Law on Inspectorate 2022, agencies performing the inspection function include:
