According to Article 8 of the Law on Belief and Religion 2016, the rights to freedom of worship and religion of foreigners lawfully residing in Vietnam are specified as follows:
Article 8. Rights to Freedom of Worship and Religion of Foreigners Lawfully Residing in Vietnam
- Foreigners lawfully residing in Vietnam are respected and protected by the State of Vietnam regarding their rights to freedom of worship and religion.
- Foreigners lawfully residing in Vietnam have the right to:
a) Participate in religious activities and join belief, religious activities;
b) Use legitimate venues for concentrated religious practice;
c) Invite Vietnamese clerics, religious dignitaries to perform religious rites, preach; invite foreign clerics to preach;
d) Enter religious practice at religious establishments, study at religious training institutions, religious classes of religious organizations in Vietnam;
dd) Carry along religious publications, religious items to serve religious activities as prescribed by Vietnamese law.
- Foreign religious dignitaries residing lawfully in Vietnam are allowed to preach at religious establishments or other legitimate venues in Vietnam.
Thus, foreigners lawfully residing in Vietnam have the following rights to freedom of worship, religion:
