Using Fake ID Cards Fined Up to 4 Million VND

Clause 3, Article 9 of Decree 167/2013/ND-CP stipulates penalties for violations regarding the management and use of identity cards as follows:

A fine ranging from 2,000,000 VND to 4,000,000 VND shall be imposed for any of the following acts:

- Providing false declarations, forging documents, or supplying false information and materials to obtain an identity card;

- Counterfeiting identity cards;

- Using counterfeit identity cards.

Clause 5 of this Article additionally provides for supplementary penalties as follows:

Confiscation of material evidence and administrative violation means for acts prescribed in Point b, Clause 2, and Clause 3 of this Article.

Thus, any individual using a counterfeit identity card shall be fined from 2 million to 4 million VND and the counterfeit identity card shall be confiscated.
