Principles of Serial Printing in the Current Money Printing Process
According to Point b, Clause 1, Article 4 of the Regulation on Management of New Currency Series (Issued together with Decision 28/2007/QD-NHNN), it is stipulated as follows:
For banknotes issued by the State Bank from the year 2003 onward, the serial number consists of a serial prefix and a sequence of 08 natural digits, in which the two digits adjacent to the serial prefix are the last two digits of the production year of that banknote, and the following 06 digits are a natural sequence starting from 000001 onward.
Serial Number: Includes both the serial prefix and a sequence of natural digits with the quantity as prescribed by the State Bank, printed on each banknote, with each banknote having a unique serial number (Clause 3, Article 2 of this Regulation).
Serial Prefix: Formed by 2 out of 26 letters (including: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z) (Clause 1, Article 2 of this Regulation).
