Termination of Electricity Supply Due to Non-payment: Is Notification to the Buyer Required?
Pursuant to Clause 9, Article 1 of the Amended Electricity Law 2012, it is stipulated:
- In the event that the electricity purchaser does not pay the electricity bill and has been notified twice by the electricity seller, then after fifteen days from the date of the first notification, the electricity seller has the right to stop supplying electricity.
- The electricity seller must notify the electricity purchaser at least 24 hours in advance of the time of electricity cessation and is not responsible for any damages caused by the cessation of electricity supply.
=> Thus, according to the above regulations, even if the purchaser does not pay the electricity bill, the electricity provider has the right to cut off the electricity but still bears the responsibility to notify the purchaser of such electricity cut-off.
Respectfully.
