Checking Identification Documents when Multiple Guests Rent One Hotel Room: Do We Need to Verify Everyone's ID?
At Clauses 2, 3 Article 44 of Decree 96/2016/ND-CP, regulating conditions on security and order for certain industries and conditional business sectors, the responsibilities of lodging service establishments regarding the verification of guest information are specified, including:
- Checking the identification documents of lodging guests, which include one of the following types of documents: Identity card; Citizen identification; Passport; Permanent residence card or temporary residence card (for foreigners); types of photo-bearing documents issued by Vietnamese state management agencies.
When guests do not have identification documents, the lodging establishment must immediately notify the commune, ward, commune-level town police, or the relevant police station after arranging the guests into their rooms.
- Fully recording the information of lodging guests into the management log (or inputting all information into the computer) before allowing the guests into their rooms.
=> Thus, according to the aforementioned regulations, if multiple guests come to rent one room at a lodging house or a hotel, the management of the lodging house or hotel must verify the identification documents of all individuals. It is not sufficient to check only one representative's documents.
Respectfully.
