Which objects are subject to analysis of food safety risks in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 49 of the Food Safety Law 2010 stipulating objects subject to analysis of food safety risks:
Objects subject to analysis of food safety risks
1. Foods of high poisoning rate.
2. Foods with samples taken for surveillance showing high rate of violating technical regulations on food safety.
3. Food production or trading environment or establishments which are suspected of causing pollution.
4. Foods or food production or trading establishments which are subject to risk analysis to meet management requirements.
According to the above regulations, there are 04 objects that are subject to analysis of food safety risks, including:

Which activities are considered the assessment of food safety risks in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 50 of the Food Safety Law 2010 regulating analysis of food safety risks:
Analysis of food safety risks
1. Analysis of food safety risks covers assessment, management and communication of risks to food safety.
2. Assessment of food safety risks covers:
a/ Investigating and testing to identify hazards to food safety which belong to groups of microbiological, chemical and physical agents;
b/ Identifying risks of health hazards to food safety, extent and scope of impacts of hazards on the community health.
3. Management of food safety risks covers:
a/ Implementing solutions to limiting food safety risks in each stage of the food supply chain;
b/ Controlling and coordinating to limit food safety risks in providing catering services and conducting other food production or trading activities.
4. Communication on food safety risks covers:
a/ Providing information on preventive measures in cases of food poisoning or unsafe food-borne diseases to raise public awareness about and responsibility for food safety risks;
b/ Notifying or forecasting food safety risks; building an information system for warning food safety risks and food-borne diseases.
According to the above regulations, assessment of food safety risks includes:
- Investigating and testing to identify hazards to food safety which belong to groups of microbiological, chemical and physical agents;
- Identifying risks of health hazards to food safety, extent and scope of impacts of hazards on the community health.
In addition, management of food safety risks includes the following activities:
- Implementing solutions to limiting food safety risks in each stage of the food supply chain;
- Controlling and coordinating to limit food safety risks in providing catering services and conducting other food production or trading activities.
Which agency has the responsibility to analyze food safety risks in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 51 of the Food Safety Law 2010 stipulating the responsibility to analyze food safety risks:
Responsibility to analyze food safety risks
The Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Industry and Trade shall analyze food safety risks in their assigned management domains under Articles 49 and 50 of this Law.
According to the above regulations, the following agencies have responsibility to analyze food safety risks in their assigned management domains:
- The Ministry of Health,
- The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development
- The Ministry of Industry and Trade
