Determination of Areas for Mine and Explosive Ordnance Clearance: Regulations and Procedures

Article 17 Technical Process for Investigation, Survey, Clearance of Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) issued with Circular 121/2021/TT-BQP (Effective from November 5, 2021) stipulates the determination of UXO clearance areas as follows:

1. Based on the marked landmarks and UXO clearance areas delineated under Clause 4, Article 15 of this Process, the executing unit shall open a perimeter road from 2 m to 4 m wide around the entire area where UXO clearance is to be performed; relocate and transport materials and equipment; and isolate the UXO clearance area from the surroundings to prevent spread in case of using fire for surface clearance.

2. The executing unit shall inspect, clear the surface, and proceed with UXO clearance beginning from the perimeter road as regulated in Articles 18 through 29 of this Process.
