On which days in December are employees in Vietnam entitled to fully paid days off?
Based on Article 112 of the Labor Code 2019 on holidays:
Article 112. Holidays
- Employees are entitled to days off with full pay on the following holidays:
a) New Year's Day: 1 day (January 1 in the Gregorian calendar);
b) Lunar New Year: 5 days;
c) Victory Day: 1 day (April 30 in the Gregorian calendar);
d) International Labor Day: 1 day (May 1 in the Gregorian calendar);
e) National Day: 2 days (September 2 in the Gregorian calendar and 1 adjacent day before or after);
f) Hung Kings' Commemoration Day: 1 day (March 10 in the lunar calendar).
- Foreign employees working in Vietnam are additionally entitled to 1 day off for their country's traditional Tet and 1 day for their national day.
- Annually, based on actual conditions, the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam decides on the specific days off prescribed at points b and e, clause 1 of this Article.
According to the above regulations, employees are entitled to paid leave on the following days:

How many days of annual leave does a person in a particularly heavy, hazardous, or dangerous job in Vietnam have?
Based on Article 113 of the Labor Code 2019 on annual leave:
Article 113. Annual Leave
- Employees who have worked for a full 12 months for an employer are entitled to annual leave with full pay according to the labor contract as follows:
a) 12 working days for those doing regular jobs;
b) 14 working days for juvenile employees, disabled employees, and those doing heavy, hazardous, or dangerous work;
c) 16 working days for those doing particularly heavy, hazardous, or dangerous work.
- Employees who have not worked for a full 12 months for an employer are entitled to a number of annual leave days proportional to the months worked.
- If employment is terminated or if the employee loses employment without having taken annual leave or not having taken all the annual leave days, the employer shall pay wages for the untaken leave days.
- The employer is responsible for scheduling annual leave after consulting with the employees and must notify employees in advance. Employees may agree with employers to take annual leave in parts or accumulate it over a maximum of 3 years.

Thus, employees in particularly heavy, hazardous, or dangerous jobs, working for a full 12 months for an employer, are entitled to 16 days of annual leave.
When they have worked for 5 years for an employer, the number of annual leave days increases by 1 day (as stipulated in Article 114 of the Labor Code 2019).
