What documents must drivers carry when participating in road traffic in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 56 of the 2024 Road Traffic Order and Safety Law, stipulating the conditions for drivers participating in road traffic:
Article 56. Conditions for drivers participating in road traffic
- Drivers participating in road traffic must meet age and health requirements as prescribed by law; possess a driving license that is valid, still carries points, and is suitable for the type of vehicle being operated, issued by the competent authority, except for drivers of mopeds as specified in Clause 4 of this Article. When participating in road traffic, drivers must carry the following documents:
a) Vehicle registration certificate or a certified copy of the vehicle registration certificate with an original confirmation document from a credit institution or foreign bank branch still valid if the vehicle is mortgaged at a credit institution or foreign bank branch;
b) A driving license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated;
c) Certificate of technical safety and environmental protection inspection for motor vehicles as prescribed by law;
d) Certificate of compulsory civil liability insurance for the owner of a motor vehicle.
- Operators of special-purpose vehicles participating in road traffic must meet the age and health requirements as prescribed by law; have a license or certificate for operating special-purpose vehicles suitable for the type being operated; have a valid and point-carrying driving license or certificate of legal knowledge pertaining to road traffic. When operating a special-purpose vehicle in road traffic, the operator must carry the following documents:
a) Vehicle registration certificate or a certified copy of the vehicle registration certificate with the original receipt issued by a credit institution or foreign bank branch that is still valid in case the vehicle is mortgaged at a credit institution or foreign bank branch;
