What are regulations on the size and spacing of the motorcycle license plate symbols in Vietnam?
According to Section 2, Appendix 04 issued with Circular 24/2023/TT-BCA, the size and spacing of symbols on motorcycle license plates are regulated as follows:
[1] Regarding the size of letters and numbers:
- Height of letters and numbers: 55 mm
- Width of letters and numbers: 22 mm
- Boldness of letters and numbers: 7 mm
- Width of the horizontal line below the police emblem: 12 mm
- Thickness of the horizontal line below the police emblem: 7 mm
- Separation dot (.) between the first three digits and the last two digits: 7 mm x 7 mm
[2] The specific positioning of letters, numbers, and symbols on the license plate is as follows:
- All letter and number sequences are arranged symmetrically on the license plate.
- The police emblem is stamped above the horizontal line on the top row of the license plate, 5 mm away from the top edge of the license plate.
- Spacing between letters and numbers:
+ On the top row: Spacing between letters and numbers is 5 mm. The main stroke to the left of the number 1 is 16 mm away from the adjacent letter and number. The spacing between the main strokes to the left of two consecutive number 1s is 27 mm.
+ On the bottom row: Spacing between letters and numbers is 10 mm. The main stroke to the left of the number 1 is 21 mm away from the adjacent number. The spacing between the main strokes to the left of two consecutive number 1s is 32 mm.

What are regulations on white-background license plates of a foreign individual in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Clause 6 Article 37 of the Circular 24/2023/TT-BCA stipulating regulations on license plate:
[1] Designed with a white background, red letters, black numbers and a red series of the symbols “NG”, which shall be issued to diplomatic missions, consulates and foreign staff members who take possession of the diplomatic identity card at these entities.
In particular, the license plate of the Ambassador and Consular General shall be inscribed with the registered number “01” inclusive of a red dash crossing over in the middle of letters showing the nationality and registered numeric order (the license plate 01 is re-issued upon registration of new vehicle);
[2] Designed with a white background, red letters, black numbers and a red series of the symbols “QT”, which shall be issued to representative offices of international organizations and foreign staff members who take possession of the diplomatic identity card at these entities.
In particular, the license plate of the head of a representative office of an United Nations’ organization shall additionally include a red dash crossing over in the middle of letters showing his/her nationality and registered numeric order;
[3] Designed with a white background, black letters and numbers, and a series of the symbols “CV”, which shall be issued to technical and administrative staff who takes possession of official identity cards granted by diplomatic missions, consulates and international organizations;
- Designed with a white background, black letters and numbers, and the symbol “NN”, which shall be issued to vehicles of representative offices or organizations and foreign individuals (except for those who have been regulated at Points [1], [2] and [3] mentioned above).
