What are regulations on temporary license plates of cars in Vietnam?
In Section 8 of Appendix 04 issued together with Circular 58/2020/TT-BCA, the dimensions of number plates, letters and numbers on the number plates of cars, motorcycles, tractors, electric scooters, trailers and semi-trailers of the company. domestic and foreign organizations and individuals, have the following provisions:
8. Provisions on temporary registration number plates
The temporary license plate is made of paper, the size of the number plate is according to the above regulations.
Number plates for cars and motorcycles have the same layout of numbers and letters, and the size of letters and numbers as in domestic license plates.
8.1. For temporary license plates:
- Long sea: The first group includes the letter 'T' and the sign of the registered locality. The second group is the order of registration, from 000.01 to 999.99. There is a dash (-) between the two groups.
- Short plate: + The upper row includes the letter "T" and the sign of the registered locality.
+ The bottom row is the order of registration, from 000.01 to 999.99.
Example: On the number plate, figure H11 shows:
+ T: Temporary registration symbol.
+ 80 indicates the place of registration.

9. Temporary vehicles for politics, conferences, and sports
The license plate is made of metal with a blue background, white letters and numbers, with its own symbol.
9.1. For temporary license plates
- Long sea: The first group includes Logos serving politics, conferences, sports and registered local signs. The second group is the registration order, from 000.01 to 999.99 (or the registration number can be replaced by letters with corresponding specifications of the letters used for the number plate of the same type), between the two groups with a dashed line. horizontal (-).

10. Regulations on plates of 4-digit cars and motorcycles when changing or re-issuing
10.1. Regulations on plate size, letters, numbers, symbols and layout are the same as those for corresponding number plates of 5-digit number plates mentioned in this annex.
10.2. Separate regulations for the sequence of registration numbers.
10.2.1. The 4-digit number plate does not have a dot (.) separated in the sequence of numbers.
10.2.2 Spacing between letters and numbers:
- For car license plates (Figure H15)
+ The distance between the ordinal numbers is 32.5mm.
+ The distance between the left stroke number 1 and the number next to it is 51.5mm.
+ The distance between the 2 left strokes of number 1 next to each other is 70.5mm.
- For motorcycle license plate (Figure H16)
The distance between the ordinal numbers is 25mm.
+ The distance between the left stroke number 1 and the number next to it is 36mm.
+ The distance between the 2 left strokes of number 1 next to each other is 47mm.
