Pursuant to Appendix 10 issued with Circular 12/2025/TT-BCA which prescribes the driving license form as follows:
Note: The driving license is a document (printed in Vietnamese and English) that includes information such as:
- The driving license form is made from PET material or materials of equivalent technical standards, with pink patterns and security symbols, dimensions 85.6 x 53.98 x 0.76 mm (according to ICAO Standard type ID-1).
- On the front of the driving license, the line "GIẤY PHÉP LÁI XE/ DRIVER’S LICENSE" is written, and "Số/No." is in red; the line "CÁC LOẠI XE CƠ GIỚI ĐƯỜNG BỘ ĐƯỢC ĐIỀU KHIỂN", “Ngày trúng tuyển” is in bold black; other text is in black.
- The driver's photograph on a sky blue background is printed directly on the driving license.
- There is a protective film layer on both sides of the driving license.
- The front of the driving license displays the following information:
- driving license number, Driver's full name, Date of birth, Nationality, Date issued, Expiry date, Issuing authority, Place of residence, Class.
- The back of the driving license displays the following information:
- Types of motor vehicles permitted to drive (written in Vietnamese and English), date of passing test, and a two-dimensional (QR) code to quickly read and decode information on the driving license and connect with the driving license information system at the Traffic Police Department.

Which driving licenses have a validity period of 10 years from the date of issue in Vietnam?
Pursuant to clause 5, Article 57 of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety 2024, the driving license is regulated:
Article 57. Driving License

- The validity of the driving license is regulated as follows:
a) driving licenses of categories A1, A, B1 are without expiry;
b) driving licenses of categories B and C1 have a validity of 10 years from the date of issue;
c) driving licenses of categories C, D1, D2, D, BE, C1E, CE, D1E, D2E, and DE have a validity of 05 years from the date of issue.

According to the above regulations, driving licenses valid for 10 years from the date of issue include:
- Category B: issued for drivers of cars carrying up to 8 seats (excluding the driver's seat); trucks and specialized automobiles with a total design weight of up to 3,500 kg; motor vehicles specified for category B driving license towing trailers with a total design weight of up to 750 kg.
- Category C1: issued for drivers of trucks and specialized automobiles with a total design weight over 3,500 kg up to 7,500 kg; trucks specified for category C1 towing trailers with a total design weight of up to 750 kg; vehicles specified for category B driving license.
When shall a driving license point be restored in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 58 of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety 2024, regarding the points of the driving license:
Article 58. Points of the Driver’s License
- Points on the driving license are used to manage compliance with laws on road traffic order and safety by drivers on the road traffic order and safety database system, consisting of 12 points. The number of points deducted per violation depends on the nature and severity of the legal violation of road traffic order and safety. Data regarding the deducted points of the driving license will be updated into the database system immediately after the sanction decision comes into effect and will be notified to the person whose points were deducted.
- A driving license that has not been fully deducted and without any point deductions within 12 months from the most recent point deduction shall have all 12 points restored.

A driving license can have points restored when it has not been fully deducted and no points have been deducted within 12 months from the date of the most recent deduction, thus restoring all 12 points.
