What Requirements Must the General Education Program in Vietnam Ensure?
Based on Article 31 of Law on Education 2019 regulating the general education program in Vietnam:
Article 31. General Education Program
1. The general education program must ensure the following requirements:
a) Reflect the objectives of general education;
b) Specify the requirements on the qualities and abilities students need to attain after each educational level, mandatory educational content for all students nationwide;
c) Specify methods, organizational forms of educational activities, and assessment of educational results for subjects at each grade, each educational level of general education;
d) Be uniform nationwide and organized and implemented flexibly, suitable to specific conditions of localities and general education institutions;
e) Be widely consulted with organizations, individuals, and experimented with before promulgation; be publicly announced after promulgation.
2. A national council for appraising the general education program is established by the Minister of Education and Training to appraise the general education program. The council includes educators, educational managers, scientists with experience and prestige in education, and representatives of relevant agencies and organizations. The council must have at least one-third of its members being teachers currently teaching at the corresponding educational level. The council and its members are responsible for the content and quality of the appraisal.
