What is the Ho Chi Minh City National University's Student Assessment exam schedule in 2024 in Vietnam?

The goals of the Student Assessment test are:

- Evaluate candidates' learning abilities comprehensively, not just based on their academic results in high school.

- Helps universities and colleges select qualified candidates suitable for the school's training program.

On November 24, Director of the Center for Testing and Evaluation of Training Quality of Ho Chi Minh City National University said that in 2024, National University-HCM will continue to organize 2 rounds of Student Assessment  exams before the high school graduation exam. As follows:

(1) Exam registration time

- Candidates register for the first round of exams scheduled from January 21 - March 4, 2024;

- Candidates register for the second round of exams from April 16 - May 7, 2024.

(2) Organize Student assessment exams

- The first round of Student Assessment exam is expected to be held on April 7, 2024 in 23 provinces and cities (an increase of 2 localities, Binh Phuoc and Tay Ninh, compared to 2023).

- Second round is expected on June 2, 2024.

(3) Announcement of results

- The results of round 1 will be announced on April 15, 2024, about one week after each test round.

- The results of round 2 will be announced on June 10, 2024, about one week after each test round.

Student Assessment tests have become an important form of admission, in addition to high school academic results and high school graduation exam results.

Hanoi National University plans to hold exams from March to June 2024, the specific expected time is as follows:

The 2024 Student Assessment exam is expected to be held in 10 provinces/cities including Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, Hai Phong, Nam Dinh, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh. The expected scale of the organization is about 75,000 candidates.

The exam registration portal accepts candidates from February 18, 2024. Candidates can register to take the exam a maximum of 2 times/year and the registration time between 2 adjacent exam shifts is 28 days apart (including holidays, days off, and weekends) depending on the candidate's wishes.

The structure of the Student Assessment exam of Hanoi National University in 2024 includes 3 parts:

Part 1 : Quantitative thinking (Mathematics, 50 questions – 75 minutes)

Knowledge in the 10th grade program: 10%;

Knowledge in the 11th grade program: 20%;

Knowledge in the 12th grade program: 70%.

Part 2 : Qualitative thinking (Literature – Language, 50 questions – 60 minutes)

Knowledge in the 10th grade program: 10%;

Knowledge in the 11th grade program: 20%;

Knowledge in the 12th grade program: 70%.

Part 3 : Science (Natural - Social, 50 questions – 60 minutes)

Knowledge in the 11th grade program: 30%, Knowledge in the 12th grade program: 70%.

In particular, the total number of scoring questions is 150 questions including:

- 132 four-choice multiple-choice questions with only 1 correct answer;

- 15 answer-filling questions in the field of Mathematics;

- 3 questions with answers in the fields of Physics, Chemistry, Biology.

Regarding the form of taking the test, candidates take the test directly on computers in qualified testing rooms.

What is determination of grading semester and the school year for 12th grade students in Vietnam?

Pursuant to Article 13 of the Regulation on evaluation and classification of middle school and high school students issued together with Circular 58/2011/TT-BGDDT amended by Clause 6 and Clause 7, Article 2 of the Circular 26/2020/TT-BGDDT stipulates standard for grading semester and the school year as follows:

(1) Excellent type

- Grade point average of the subjects from 8.0 points or more;

- Average point of one of three subjects Mathematics, Literature and Foreign Language shall be from 8.0 or more;

- There are no subjects that grade point average is below 6.5;

- The subjects evaluated by comments reached S.

Note: For students in specialized classes at specialized high schools, the condition that the average score in specialized subjects is 8.0 or more must be added;

(2) Rather good grade

- Grade point average of the subjects from 6.5 points or more;

- Average point of one of one of three subjects Mathematics, Literature and Foreign Language shall be from 6.5 or more;

- There are no subjects that grade point average is below 5.0;

- The subjects evaluated by comments reached S.

Note: For students in specialized classes of specialized high schools, the condition that the average score in specialized subjects is 6.5 or more must be added;

(3) Medium grade

- Grade point average of the subjects from 5.0 points or more;

- Average point of one of one of three subjects Mathematics, Literature and Foreign Language shall be from 5.0 or more;

- There are no subjects that grade point average is below 3.5;

- The subjects evaluated by comments reached S.

Note: For students in specialized classes of specialized high schools, the condition that the average score in specialized subjects is 5.0 or more must be added;

(4) Weak grade

- Grade point average of the subjects from 3.5 points or more;

- There are no subjects that grade point average is below 2.0.

(5) Poor grade

The other cases

*Note: Regulations on grading 12th grade in Circular 58/2011/TT-BGDDT apply in the 2023-2024 school year, from the 2024-2025 school year onwards Circular 22/2021/TT-BGDDT will apply.
