On April 17, 2024, the Ha Noi Department of Education and Training officially issued Decision 850/QD/SGDDT in 2024 regarding the allocation of admissions quotas for public 10th-grade classes in all general high schools for the 2024-2025 academic year in Ha Noi.

For the 2024-2025 academic year, Ha Noi has allocated the following admissions quotas for 10th grade:

Admissions quotas for 127 public general high schools in the area with a total quota of 77,250 students, including:

- Allocating over 73,000 students for admissions to 119 public general high schools, including:

+ 4 general high schools with specialized classes admitting 82 classes and 2,970 students.

+ 115 public general high schools admitting 70,725 students with 1,575 classes.

- Allocating 85 classes and 3,555 students for admissions to 8 self-governing public general high schools.

What are the admissions requirements for 10th grade enrollment in Vietnam?

According to Article 5 of the Regulations on Enrollment in Secondary Schools and High Schools issued together with Circular 11/2014/TT-BGDDT, the provisions regarding the subjects and methods of enrollment are as follows:

Subjects and methods of enrollment

1. The subjects of enrollment are students who have graduated from secondary school under the General Education Program or the Continuing Education Program, with the required age as stipulated in Clause 2, Article 2 of these Regulations.

2. Enrollment in high school is conducted through one of the following methods:

a) Direct admissions based on the training and academic results of the four years of study in secondary school of the enrolled subjects. If a student has to repeat an academic year, the academic results of that repeated year will be considered.

b) Entrance examination.

c) Combination of entrance examination and direct admissions.

Therefore, the requirement for admissions to 10th grade is to have graduated from secondary school under the General Education Program or the Continuing Education Program, with the required age as stipulated.

According to Article 4 of the Regulations on Recognition of Graduation from Secondary School issued together with Circular 31/2023/TT-BGDDT, the conditions for recognizing graduation from secondary school are as follows:

- Not exceeding 21 years of age (calculated by year) for students who have completed the General Education Program of secondary school; from 15 years of age and above (calculated by year) for learners who have completed the Continuing Education Program of secondary school.

In the case of students returning from overseas, grade skipping, or studying at an age older than the prescribed age, the regulations on age according to the school level of the Ministry of Education and Training shall be followed.

- Having completed the General Education Program of secondary school or the Continuing Education Program of secondary school.

- Having a complete dossier, specifically as follows:

For students who have completed grade 9 at an educational institution in the year of graduation recognition, the provisional graduation recognition dossier consists of the student's academic transcript.

For students who are not in the category of students who have completed grade 9 at an educational institution in the year of graduation recognition, the provisional graduation recognition dossier includes:

+ Application form for provisional graduation recognition.

+ Valid copy of birth certificate or citizen identification card.

+ Official copy of the student's academic transcript or printed electronic academic transcript with confirmation from the educational institution where the student completed grade 9.

In cases where the student has lost the official copy of the academic transcript or does not have a printed electronic academic transcript, a confirmation of the training and academic results of grade 9 from the educational institution where the student completed grade 9 must be provided.

What documents are required for admissions to 10th grade in Vietnam?

According to Article 6 of the Regulations on Enrollment in Secondary Schools and High Schools issued together with Circular 11/2014/TT-BGDDT (amended by Article 2 of Circular 05/2018/TT-BGDDT), the requirements for the admissions dossier are as follows:

Admissions dossier

1. Valid copy of the birth certificate.

2. Certificate of completion of secondary school or temporary certificate of completion of secondary school, or a valid copy of the certificate of completion of secondary school.

3. Academic transcript of secondary school.

4. Confirmation of priority status issued by the competent authority (if any).

5. Confirmation issued by the People's Committee of the commune, ward, or town (for students who have graduated from secondary school in previous academic years) stating that they are not serving a prison sentence, community sentence, or violating the law.

As regulated above, follwing documents are required for admissions to 10th grade in Vietnam:

- Valid copy of the birth certificate.

- Certificate of completion of secondary school or temporary certificate of completion of secondary school, or a valid copy of the certificate of completion of secondary school.

- Academic transcript of secondary school.
