What are standardized educational qualifications of teachers in Vietnam?
Based on Article 72 of the Education Law 2019 which specifies the standardized educational qualifications of teachers in Vietnam:
Article 72. standardized educational qualifications of teachers
- The standardized educational qualifications of teachers is specified as follows:
a) Possess a diploma from a pedagogical college or higher for preschool teachers;
b) Possess a bachelor's degree or higher in teacher training for primary, junior high, and high school teachers. In case a subject lacks teachers with a bachelor's degree in teacher training, a relevant bachelor's degree and a pedagogical training certificate are required;
c) Possess a master's degree for university-level teachers; a doctorate for teachers instructing master's theses and doctoral dissertations;
d) The standardized educational qualifications of teachers teaching in vocational education institutions follows the Vocational Education Law's regulations.
- The Government of Vietnam specifies the roadmap for upgrading the standard training level for preschool, primary, and junior high school teachers as stated in points a and b of paragraph 1 of this Article. The Minister of Education and Training and the Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, within their scope of duties and authority, establish the usage of teachers who cannot meet the provisions in paragraph 1 of this Article.
Thus, the standardized educational qualifications of teachers in Vietnam are regulated as follows:
- Possess a diploma from a pedagogical college or higher for preschool teachers
- Possess a bachelor's degree or higher in teacher training for primary, junior high, and high school teachers
- Possess a master's degree for university-level teachers
- Possess a doctorate for teachers instructing master's theses and doctoral dissertations
- The standardized educational qualifications of teachers teaching in vocational education institutions follows regulations
What Rights Do teachers in Vietnam Have?
Based on Article 70 of the Education Law 2019 which specifies the rights of teachers in Vietnam:
- Be allowed to teach according to their area of expertise.
- Be entitled to training and professional development to enhance political knowledge, expertise, and skills.
- Be allowed to engage in guest lecturing, scientific research at other educational institutions, or research facilities.
- Have their dignity, honor, and physical safety respected and protected.
- Be allowed to have summer holidays as prescribed by the Government of Vietnam and other holidays as mandated by law.
