What are conditions to apply for recruitment of high school teachers at public schools in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 22 of the Law on Public Employees in 2010 stipulating conditions to apply for recruitment of high school teachers at public schools in Vietnam as follows:
- Bearing Vietnamese citizenship and residing in Vietnam:
- Reaching full 18 years of age.
- Filing an application for recruitment:
- Having a clear personal background;
- Possessing diplomas, training certificates or practice certificates or aptitude and skills relevant to the working position for which he/she applies:
- Being physically fit for work or tasks;
- Meeting other conditions required by the working position for which he/she applies and determined by the public non-business unit, which must not be contrary to law.
Note: The following persons may not register for public employee recruitment:
- Having lost civil act capacity or having such capacity restricted;
- Being examined for penal liability; currently serving a criminal sentence or ruling of the court or serving the administrative measure of confinement to a medical treatment establishment, an educational institution or a reformatory.
What is the current salary of high school teachers in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 8 of Circular 04/2021/TT-BGDĐT stipulating the salary classification of high school teachers as follows:
Salary classification
1. Employees appointed to the teaching career positions for high school teachers specified in this Circular shall be applied the corresponding salary scale promulgated together with Decree 204/2004/NĐ-CP dated December 14, 2004 of the Government on the salary regime for civil servants, public servants, and armed forces, specifically as follows:
a) High school teachers of grade III, code V.07.05.15, shall be applied the salary coefficient of employees of type A1, from salary coefficient 2.34 to salary coefficient 4.98.
b) High school teachers of grade II, code V.07.05.14, shall be applied the salary coefficient of employees of type A2, group A2.2, from salary coefficient 4.0 to salary coefficient 6.38.
c) High school teachers of grade I, code V.07.05.13, shall be applied the salary coefficient of employees of type A2, group A2.1, from salary coefficient 4.40 to salary coefficient 6.78.
2. The salary classification when appointed to a career position shall be carried out in accordance with the instructions in Clause 1, Section II of Circular No. 02/2007/TT-BNV dated May 25, 2007 of the Ministry of Home Affairs on guidance on salary classification when upgrading, transferring, and converting civil servants and public servants and current regulations of the law. When implementing the new salary policy, the transfer to the new salary shall be carried out in accordance with the regulations of the Government.
In addition, the current base salary is VND 1,800,000/month (Article 3 of Decree 24/2023/NĐ-CP).
Therefore, the salary of high school teachers is determined by the following formula:

Salary coefficient is as follows:
- High school teachers of grade III, code V.07.05.15, shall be applied the salary coefficient of employees of type A1, from salary coefficient 2.34 to salary coefficient 4.98.
- High school teachers of grade II, code V.07.05.14, shall be applied the salary coefficient of employees of type A2, group A2.2, from salary coefficient 4.0 to salary coefficient 6.38.
- High school teachers of grade I, code V.07.05.13, shall be applied the salary coefficient of employees of type A2, group A2.1, from salary coefficient 4.40 to salary coefficient 6.78.
