What are the standards for People’s Army officers in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 12 of the Law on Officers of the Vietnam People's Army 1999, the standards for People’s Army officers are as follows:
[1] General Standards
- Firm political courage, absolute loyalty to the Fatherland and the people, the Vietnam Communist Party of Vietnam, and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; with high revolutionary vigilance, readiness to fight, sacrifice, and complete any assigned task
- Revolutionary ethical qualities; industriousness, thrift, integrity, impartiality; exemplary adherence to the policies and lines of the Vietnam Communist Party, state laws; promoting democracy, strictly observing military discipline; respecting and uniting with the people and comrades; entrusted by the masses
- Political, military science knowledge, and capability to creatively apply Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's Thought, and the Party's lines and policies in building a comprehensive national defense and people’s army; knowledgeable in culture, economy, society, law, and other fields; practical operating capacity meeting the assigned task's requirements; having completed the training programs as prescribed for each position
- Clear personal background, age, and health suitable for the position, military rank undertaken by the officer.

What are the basic positions for People's Public Security officers in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 24 of the Law on People's Public Security 2018 regulating positions and titles for People's Public Security officers:
Article 24. Positions and Titles of People's Public Security Officers
- The basic positions of People's Public Security officers include:
a) Minister of Public Security;
b) Director-General, Commander;
c) Director of provincial or central-affiliated city Public Security;
d) Head of division; Head of district, town of district-level, city affiliated to province, city affiliated to central-affiliated city Public Security; Head of regiment;
dd) Head of team; Head of commune, ward-level Public Security; Head of battalion;
e) Company commander;
g) Platoon leader;
h) Squad leader.
- Positions equivalent to those specified in points b, c, d, dd, e, g, and h of clause 1 of this Article and other remaining positions and titles in the People's Public Security are stipulated by the Minister of Public Security.
- Professional titles and standards for professional titles of People's Public Security officers are prescribed by the Minister of Public Security according to the provisions of law.
Thus, the basic positions for People's Public Security officers include:
- Minister of Public Security
- Director-General, Commander
- Director of provincial or central-affiliated city Public Security
