The Central Propaganda Committee in cooperation with the General Department of Politics of the People's Army of Vietnam organizes the Online Contest “People's Army of Vietnam - 80 Years of Building, Fighting, and Maturing”
The contest is organized from November 22, 2024, to the end of December 13, 2024, and includes 3 contest weeks: First week: From November 22, 2024, to the end of November 28, 2024; Second week: From November 29, 2024, to the end of December 5, 2024; Third week: From December 6, 2024, to the end of December 12, 2024.
The contest is conducted in the form of an online quiz on the online information portal of the Reporters of the Central Propaganda Committee at the address: https://baocaovien.vn and through newspapers, magazines, online portals linked to the contest.
Contest content includes guidelines, policies, and resolutions of the Communist Party regarding the People's Army of Vietnam; the glorious 80-year journey of building, fighting, and maturity of the People's Army of Vietnam.

What are the standards for officers of the People's Army of Vietnam?
Based on Article 12 of the Law on Officers of the People's Army of Vietnam 1999, the standards for officers of the People's Army of Vietnam are stipulated as follows:
[1] General Standards
- Possess firm political bravery, absolute loyalty to the Homeland and the people, the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; maintain high revolutionary vigilance, ready to fight, sacrifice, and fulfill all assigned tasks;
- Possess revolutionary moral qualities; diligence, integrity, impartiality; exemplary in complying with the guidelines and policies of the Communist Party and the laws of the State; promote democracy, strictly observe military discipline; respect and unite with the people and comrades; be trusted by the masses;
- Have political, military science knowledge and the ability to creatively apply Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's ideology, guidelines, viewpoints, and policies of the Communist Party and the State in the task of building a comprehensive national defense and building the people's army;
- Possess knowledge of culture, economy, society, law, and other fields; have practical operational capacity to meet the task requirements assigned; graduate from training programs as prescribed for each position;
- Have a clear background, appropriate age, and health for the position and military rank held.
[2] Specific standards for each officer position are prescribed by authorities with jurisdiction.
What are the obligations of an officer of the Vietnam People's Army?
Based on Article 26 of the Law on Officers of the People's Army of Vietnam 1999, the obligations of officers are stipulated as follows:
Article 26. Obligations of Officers
Officers have the following obligations:
- Be ready to fight, sacrifice to protect the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Homeland, protect the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; participate in national construction, protect the assets and interests of the State, agencies, organizations; protect the lives, assets, rights, and lawful interests of individuals;
- Regularly maintain and cultivate revolutionary ethics, study, train to enhance political, military, cultural, professional, and physical knowledge and capacity to complete tasks;
- Absolutely obey the organization, obey commands; strictly comply with orders, regulations, and policies of the military; maintain military secrets and national secrets;

Officers of the People's Army of Vietnam have the following obligations:
- Be ready to fight, sacrifice to protect the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Homeland, protect the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; participate in national construction, protect the assets and interests of the State, agencies, organizations; protect the lives, assets, rights, and lawful interests of individuals;
- Regularly maintain and cultivate revolutionary ethics, study, and train to enhance political, military, cultural, professional, and physical knowledge and capacity to complete tasks;
- Absolutely obey the organization, obey commands; strictly comply with orders, regulations, policies of the military; maintain military secrets and national secrets;
- Regularly care for the material and spiritual benefits of soldiers;
- Exemplary in complying and mobilizing the people to implement the guidelines, policies of the Communist Party, and the laws of the State; respect and closely connect with the people.
