From January 1, 2025, who is not allowed to be a Juror at the People's Court?
Based on Article 123 of the Law on Organization of People's Courts 2024, the following individuals are not permitted to serve as jurors:
Individuals not allowed to be Jurors
Individuals holding judicial titles, officials, and public employees and workers in Courts, Procuracies, Police agencies, judgment enforcement agencies, or agencies assigned with carrying out certain investigative activities as defined by law.
Lawyers.
Notaries.
Bailiff officers.
Legal aid officers.
Jurors are representatives of the people participating in trials at the Court. According to the above regulations, the following individuals are not allowed to be jurors:
- Individuals holding judicial titles, officials, and public employees and workers in Courts, Procuracies, Police agencies, judgment enforcement agencies, or agencies assigned with carrying out certain investigative activities.
- Lawyers.
- Notaries.
- Bailiff officers.

What are the standards for a People's Juror?
Based on Article 122 of the Law on Organization of People's Courts 2024, the following are the standards for jurors:
Standards for Jurors
- Individuals elected or appointed to be jurors must meet the following criteria:
a) Be a Vietnamese citizen, loyal to the Fatherland and the Constitution, with good ethical qualities, firm political stance, reputable in the community, courageous and resolute in protecting justice, and maintain integrity and honesty;
b) Between the ages of 28 and 70;
c) Have legal knowledge;
d) Have social understanding;
e) Have the health to fulfill the given tasks;
f) Are not under disciplinary actions such as reprimand, caution, salary reduction, demotion; are not subject to dismissal, removal, or compulsory resignation;
g) Are not under criminal prosecution or have been sentenced by a legally effective court judgment;
h) Have not been dismissed from the position of juror.

Thus, a People's Juror must meet the following criteria:

- Between the ages of 28 and 70;

- Are not under criminal prosecution or have been sentenced by a legally effective court judgment;
- Have not been dismissed from the position of juror.
[2] Individuals elected to be a juror at the specialized People's Court of First Instance
- Be a Vietnamese citizen, loyal to the Fatherland and the Constitution, with good ethical qualities, firm political stance, reputable in the community, courageous and resolute in protecting justice, and maintain integrity and honesty;
- Between the ages of 28 and 70;
- Have legal knowledge;
- Have social understanding;
- Have the health to fulfill the given tasks;
- Are not under disciplinary actions such as reprimand, caution, salary reduction, demotion; are not subject to dismissal, removal, or compulsory resignation;
- Are not under criminal prosecution or have been sentenced by a legally effective court judgment;
- Have not been dismissed from the position of juror;
- Have specialized knowledge, experience in the field under the jurisdiction of the specialized People's Court of First Instance.
When is a People's Juror dismissed?
Based on Article 129 of the Law on Organization of People's Courts 2024, the conditions for dismissal and expulsion of jurors are as follows:

Jurors can be dismissed due to health reasons, personal wishes, or other valid reasons.
Jurors are expelled when they have ethical violations or legal violations rendering them unworthy of being jurors.
