Dear Editorial Board,I have an issue that needs clarification. I graduated in Mathematics Education from Y University in 2019. Since then, the university has retained me as a lecturer in Mathematics Education for the past 3 years because I was the valedictorian. I heard that to obtain the title of Lecturer (Rank III), one must have a master's degree in the relevant teaching field, is that correct?I would greatly appreciate it if the Editorial Board could address this issue. According to Clause 2, Article 5 of Circular 40/2020/TT-BGDDT, which was amended by Clause 1, Article 2 of Circular 04/2022/TT-BGDDT, the standards for training qualifications and fostering of Lecturers (Class III) are as follows:
a) Holding a master's degree or higher relevant to the job position, teaching major, or specialty;
b) Having a certificate of training according to the standards of university lecturer professional titles.
Therefore, Lecturers (Class III) need to have a master's degree or higher that is relevant to the job position, teaching major, or specialty. If you wish to hold the title of Lecturer (Class III), you must have a master's degree or higher relevant to the Mathematics Education specialty you are teaching.
What are the standards for the professional capacity and expertise of Lecturers (Class III)?
According to Clause 3, Article 5 of Circular 40/2020/TT-BGDDT, the standards for the professional capacity and expertise of Lecturers (Class III) are as follows:
a) Firmly grasping the basic knowledge of the assigned subject; having general knowledge of some related subjects within the assigned training major;
b) Understanding and correctly implementing the objectives, plans, content, and programs of the assigned subjects within the training major. Identifying the practical issues and development trends of training and research in the specialty both domestically and internationally;
c) Effectively and safely using teaching aids and equipment, possessing effective teaching methods suitable to the subject content; meeting or exceeding teaching requirements;
d) Having the ability to conduct scientific research; applying scientific and technological advancements in teaching and assigned tasks;
d) Being capable of applying information technology and using foreign languages in performing the duties of a Lecturer (Class III).
