Is it possible to extend the deadline for submitting unemployment insurance dossiers during the Covid-19 pandemic?
According to Clause 1, Article 46 of the Employment Law 2013, the regulations regarding unemployment benefits are as follows:
Within 03 months from the date of termination of the labor contract or working contract, the worker must submit an application for unemployment benefits at the employment service center established by the state employment management agency.
Thus, the deadline to submit the application for unemployment benefits is 03 months from the date of termination of the labor contract. Currently, there are no regulations on extending the submission deadline for unemployment benefits applications. Therefore, you must submit the application within this period. Furthermore, given the complex developments of Covid-19 and to avoid missing the application deadline for unemployment benefits, you can submit your application by mail, with the submission date being the date the postmark is stamped. The Employment Service Center in HCM has also issued a notice for employees to submit their applications by registered mail (http://www.vieclamhcm.net/). You may refer to this for more information.
Sincerely!
