When will the cut-off for university admission in Vietnam be disclosed in 2024?
According to Article 2 of Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT, the cut-off for university admission for 2024 is the score considered as the threshold (for a group of disciplines, a discipline, or a training program), the minimum score that candidates (who have registered their options to this discipline or training program) must obtain or exceed to be eligible for admission.
Based on Section 3 of the Implementation Plan for University Admissions and College Admissions in Preschool Education for 2024, issued along with Decision 1139/QD-BGDĐT in 2024, the schedule for announcing results and confirming enrollment is as follows:

What are the procedures for university admissions in Vietnam according to the General Plan?
According to Article 20 of the University Admission Regulations and College Admissions in Preschool Education, issued along with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT, universities handle admission and options processing according to the general plan as follows:
- Universities organize admissions autonomously following their own methods and criteria, or voluntarily partner in groups to conduct admissions following common methods and criteria.
The Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) provides guidance on the schedule for admissions and supports the processing of options on the system.
- After the registration period for options on the system ends, universities download information and data from the system to serve admissions, which includes option registration data and results of the high school graduation exam, academic records of high school for candidates applying to universities.
- Principles for Admissions:
+ The admission score is determined so that the number of admitted students in each discipline or training program matches the announced quota, but not lower than the admission threshold;
+ For a discipline (or training program) under a specific method and combination of subjects, all candidates are selected equally based on their assessment scores, regardless of the order of preference in registration, except as provided in point c, clause 3, Article 20 of the University Admissions Regulations and College Admissions in Preschool Education issued along with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT;
+ In cases where many candidates have the same final assessment score, universities can use auxiliary criteria such as the order of options (to select candidates with higher options);
+ The use of regional and priority scores for admissions must ensure consistency and coherence with the regulations on priority scores stipulated in Article 7 of the University Admission Regulations and College Admissions in Preschool Education issued along with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT.
- After each admission cycle, universities upload the list of candidates who are provisionally eligible for admission to disciplines and training programs (according to the admissions methods) on the system.
The option processing system will automatically remove the lower options of candidates who are eligible for admission to multiple options, returning the list of candidates who are provisionally admitted based on their highest option.
- Based on the results of option processing, universities repeat the admission process in subsequent cycles, adjusting the admission scores to fit the quota within the stipulated timeframe.
In the final cycle, universities determine the admission scores for disciplines and training programs (under the admissions methods) and upload the (official) list of candidates who are eligible for admission on the system.
Based on the final option processing results, universities decide on the list of candidates admitted to disciplines and training programs.
- Universities announce the admission scores (and any additional criteria, if any) for disciplines and training programs according to the admissions methods; organize for candidates to check their individual admission results on the university’s website (or the coordinated universities’ admission group).

- Regarding admission opportunities: Candidates must be given the highest opportunity to be admitted and have the right to determine the priority option among eligible programs and training disciplines;
- Regarding commitment fulfillment: Training institutions must fulfill commitments to candidates; provide counseling, support, resolve complaints, and protect legitimate rights of candidates in cases of risk.
