What are the requirements for specific competencies for students when studying Physics in Vietnam?

According to Section 4 of the Physics education program issued along with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the Physics subject forms and develops students' physics competencies, with the following specific manifestations:

(1) Physics awareness

Understanding essential knowledge and skills about: the physical system model; energy and waves; force and field; recognizing some careers related to physics; specific manifestations include:

- Recognizing and describing objects, concepts, phenomena, laws, and physical processes.

- Explaining physical phenomena and processes; characteristics and roles of physical phenomena and processes using various expressions: speaking, writing, measuring, calculating, drawing, mapping, diagramming.

- Identifying keywords, using scientific terms, logically connecting information meaningfully, and outlining when reading and presenting scientific texts.

- Comparing, choosing, classifying, and analyzing physical phenomena and processes according to different criteria.

- Explaining the relationship between objects, phenomena, and processes.

- Identifying errors and correcting understanding or explanations; making critical assessments related to discussion topics.

- Recognizing some professions suitable for personal orientation.

(2) Exploring the natural world from a physics perspective

Exploring simple, familiar physical phenomena and processes in life and the natural world through processes; using scientific evidence to test predictions, explain evidence, and draw conclusions; specific manifestations include:

- Proposing physics-related issues: Recognizing and asking questions related to issues; analyzing contexts to propose issues by connecting existing knowledge and experiences and using personal language to express proposed problems.

- Making predictions and constructing hypotheses: Analyzing issues to make predictions; developing and stating hypotheses to be explored.

- Planning implementation: Building a logical framework for exploration content; choosing appropriate methods (observation, experimentation, investigation, interviewing, searching materials); planning to explore.

- Implementing the plan: Collecting and maintaining data from overview results, experiments, investigations; evaluating results based on simple statistical parameter analysis; comparing results with hypotheses; explaining and concluding, and adjusting if necessary.

- Writing, presenting reports, and discussing: Using language, drawings, diagrams, tables to express exploration processes and results; writing reports after exploration; collaborating with partners with a positive attitude and respecting other opinions, evaluating to learn actively, and defending exploration results convincingly.

- Making decisions and proposing opinions and solutions: Making decisions on handling explored issues; proposing recommendations to apply exploration or research results or further research issues.

(3) Applying learned knowledge and skills

Applying learned knowledge and skills in some simple cases, starting to use mathematics as a language and tool to solve problems; specific manifestations include:

- Explaining and proving practical issues.

- Evaluating and critiquing the impact of practical issues.

- Designing models, planning, proposing, and implementing some new methods or measures.

- Proposing and implementing some solutions to protect nature, adapt to climate change; behaving and having reasonable attitudes for sustainable development.

In the Physics subject curriculum, each element of both general and specific competencies mentioned above is incorporated into each topic, each content strand of teaching, in the form of achievable requirements at different levels.
