Eighty years ago, on December 22, 1944, under the guidance of Leader Ho Chi Minh, the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army Team was established in the Tran Hung Dao forest, Cao Bang. With only 34 soldiers, carrying indomitable will and fierce faith in the nation's future, this small army achieved great feats, becoming the origin of a heroic people's army of Vietnam. Distinguished Comrades and Guests! Whenever we recall the heroic history of our army, the image of soldiers who fought tirelessly, overcoming hardships and sacrifices, manifests in our minds as immortal monuments. These were soldiers who marched from Viet Bac forests, crossed Truong Son, fought on every inch of land, every river of the nation to protect the homeland. They were simple people but carried a burning patriotic flame in their hearts. Some have left forever, leaving unfinished letters, unfulfilled dreams, and unspoken promises. We will never forget the pain of Vietnamese mothers, families who lost their sons, husbands, those who silently waited. Thanks to their sacrifice, we have the peace of today. Thanks to their indomitable will, the Vietnamese nation has overcome all challenges, so today, the Vietnam People's Army stands firm in the hearts of the nation, becoming a symbol of strength, loyalty, and resilience. Distinguished Comrades and the People! The 80-year tradition of the Vietnam People's Army is not just about illustrious victories in resistance wars, but also continuous contributions in peacetime. We see soldiers assisting people during floods, rebuilding homes after natural disasters, standing on the front lines in a pandemic, and contributing to national development. The army is not only a fighting force but also a symbol of the close-knit bond between the Communist Party, the State, and the people. Are students entitled to a day off on the founding day of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22)?
Currently, there are no specific regulations regarding holidays for students. Thus, students will follow the school and teacher's schedule for studies and holidays.
According to Article 112 of the Labor Code 2019, the specific holidays are as follows:
Public holidays
1. Employees shall be entitled to fully paid days off on the following public holidays:
a) Gregorian Calendar New Year Holiday: 01 day (the 1st of January of the Gregorian calendar);
b) Lunar New Year Holidays: 05 days;
c) Victory Day: 01 day (the 30th of April of the Gregorian calendar);
d) International Labor Day: 01 day (the 1st of May of the Gregorian calendar);
dd) National Day: 02 days (the 2nd of September of the Gregorian calendar and the previous or next day);
e) Hung Kings Commemoration Day: 01 day (the 10th of the third month of the Lunar calendar).
2. Foreign employees in Vietnam are entitled to 01 traditional public holiday and 01 National Day of their country, in addition to the public holidays stipulated in Clause 1 of this Article.
3. The Prime Minister shall decide the specific public holidays mentioned in Point b and Point dd Clause 1 of this Article on an annual basis.
Under the above regulations, the founding day of the Vietnam People's Army on December 22 is not included in the public holidays. Thus. students will attend school as usual according to regulations.
