Under section V of the General Education Program for Literature issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the text corpus used in the 7th-grade Literature curriculum in Vietnam are as follows:
- Literary Texts
+ Fables, short stories, science fiction stories
+ Poetry, four-syllable, five-syllable poems
+ Essays, narratives
+ Proverbs
- Argumentative Texts
+ Social argumentative essays
+ Literary argumentative essays
- Informational Texts
+ Texts introducing rules or laws in games or activities
+ Reports.
What learning outcomes are required for 7th-grade students when reading informational texts in Vietnam?
According to section V of the General Education Program for Literature issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, 7th-grade students must meet the following requirements when reading informational texts:
(1) Reading comprehension of content
- Identify the basic information of the text.
- Recognize the role of details in expressing the basic information of the text.
(2) Reading comprehension of form
- Identify characteristics of texts introducing a rule or law in a game or activity, pointing out the relationship between text characteristics and its purpose.
- Recognize and understand the use of footnotes and references in informational texts.
- Identify and understand the organization of ideas and information in a text (such as chronological order, cause-effect relationship, or classification of objects).
(3) Connection, Comparison, Linking
- Identify the expressive effects of a non-linguistic medium in a printed or electronic document.
- Articulate life experiences that help better understand the ideas or issues presented in the text.
(4) Expanded Reading
Over a school year, read a minimum of 18 informational texts (including texts guided for reading on the Internet) with similar types and lengths to the previously studied texts.
